There is hope!

Look at this picture, I mean look at it, it’s grass and the dreaded tree root I always trip over poking through the snow and ice. I had a tear in my eye when I saw it this morning. After the winter we’ve had so far Mother Nature has taken pity on us and has given us two days of warmth unfortunately the cold returns tonight…ugh!

You can see the slump in the snow along Dylan dog’s path. Poor dog is so tired of being land locked on those paths and tried getting through the snow the other day only to sink up to his bloomers.

A garden bench and a marble angel finally making their way through the snow, she should have flown away when she had the chance!

Look, you see that dark round thing in the middle of the snow, that’s a garden urn making a reappearance. Sort of to the right of that urn there looks to big a large round area under the snow, that’s a very large round raised stone garden bed I built, it’ll be out soon…I HOPE!

If you click on the pictures you can bring them up bigger and you should on this one and look at that sky it’s the deepest of blues. I took this picture this morning from one of Dylan’s paths it looks back from our side field towards the side of our home.

For those of you following our barn renovation you can see some of the stonewalls holding that mountain back. Just think those walls have been there for over 200 years! Pretty amazing even to me and I look at them everyday. OK everyone think spring please!

Next up the second installment of our barn renovation!

To me the setting of your home looks stunning - even under 3' of snow! In France we call stone walled terracing like that "restanques" - very chic!
Hope you have a great weekend

Oh Debra I know it's cold (poor Dylan!) but it's so Currier and Ives perfect! And I might add the perfect weather for some nice warm blogging about your barn conversion......*winks* Vanna

This weather looks scarily familiar, and like you we were blessed by the darling weather gods and goddesses with two unusually mild days back to back. Teddy and Dylan are in all their glory! (and so am I) Beautiful shots of the snow against the crystal clear Robins egg blue sky.....just think before you know it, the heat will be sweltering, with hair going in all directions from the humidity and we will all be thinking "can't wait for winter" :) Enjoy the weather, and all lifes beautiful things.....cannot wait to see more pictures of the barn..SO EXCITING!

I have to say this looks so beautiful, and just sounds so romantic to have such a lovely old home tucked in the woods buried in snow. alas, I have to have sunshine, so I feel the pain for both you and Dylan. But....before you know it spring really will give you a reprieve and you will have still another gorgeous setting to enjoy. Have a great weekend. Mona

Hi Debra - I'm with you! I can start to see the foundation around my house again and the massive snow banks are getting smaller. I can't want for spring (like everyone else). Your property is beautiful by the way and I'm looking forward to more posts about your barn.

Looking in from Santa Barbara, I can only imagine how glorious it will be for all of you when Spring finally shows her beautiful face. They say it is the contrasts in life that magnify appreciation to the fullest. Wishing an early and utterly amazing Spring for you all.

We are also starting to see patches of grass - a little more than you have. In the wind last night we lost a huge part of our large evergreen which is the anchor of our front yard - we may have to take it down. :-( Husband heading outside now as it is blocking the lane.

To the rest of us it all looks so pretty but I can imagine you are fairly fed up with all that snow by now.
Here in Normandy...........blue skies, sunshine, forsythia, daffodils & crocus are blooming.
Your Spring is just around the corner too, chin up!

oh I sooooo hope so. We were without power all day yesterday (winds) and then again last night, and OF COURSE the generator is slated to be wired in on WED....typical! I'm so ready for Spring!

The barn looks like ours did! A huge job to be sure.

hope you are well.... and warm!

I am wishing you and early and beautiful spring. I must admit that your snow pictures are beautiful. But, you have had enough harsh weather and deserve a gorgeous lush spring and summer.
