Bit of Sunshine needed!

After last weeks temperatures hovering around the eighty mark this week has been a real eye opener as we were slammed right back into winter like weather with rain and ice this morning. Our daffodils are top heavy since they’re double blooms and were laying over so I dashed out in pajamas and scissors in hand, I know don’t run with scissors but it was more like a really fast walk, and rescued the open blossoms.

Aren’t these daffodils pretty and I love the touch of green on the leaves. These are such reliable bloomers and come back year after year without fail I only wish I knew what kind they are. I bought them one fall when a store was having a late fall sale and grabbed them and stuck them in the ground forgetting all about them until they came up the following spring.

So if anyone out there knows what type they are share please!

I hope you’re all having a wonderful week!

  1. Hi Debra.......well your wacky weather is just like ours. I go from wanting to wear a sundress to not being able to throw on my down jacket fast enough...go figure!!!! Its crazy and I can see nature is quite confused too! So glad you thought to rescue those gorgeous daffodils and give them a nice comfy place inside! You are motivating me to do the same.......have a good evening!

  7. Hi Debra, I'm not sure what variety your daffodils are, but they sure are happy! Glad you could at least have a little sunshine indoors. We've been having crazy weather too, it's warmed up a bit, but the rain just doesn't stop. The flowers are very brave and make me believe in spring in spite of the gloom! Hope your days get brighter.

  8. Hi Debra! A little sunshine is needed here too.. Our temps have yet to reach mid-sixties. Your daffodils are so bright and happy! My vase filled with flowers helps me get through our long Pacific Northwest winters.

    Enjoy your day :)

  10. Debra,
Love your double daffodils. We've had the same thing happen on the west coast...it was so spring-like a few weeks back and now we're cold and in drizzle...mother nature needs some meds!
Hope you get some warm sunshine soon.

  11. Debra, those are gorgeous, if Debra from 5th and State doesn't know what they are maybe you have a special daffodil called Debra's daffodil!! Even in Calif. we are having rain storms like winter and then today is a perfect Spring day. I remember when my kiddos were in kindergarten and they were learning about the seasons, the definition for Spring was all mixed up.!! This year is really a mixed bag, isn't it? Happy Spring blooms to you,

  18. They're gorgeous! Daffodils are the most happy looking flowers ever, and I must say that yours look deliriously cheerful. After a week of warm weather, we've got the last of the sun here in Norfolk today. Alas, I am told that we are to anticipate cold and rain from tomorrow so I too will probably be out in my nightie, wielding my scissors first thing tomorrow morning - lol!

  20. In N.C. we've had staggeringly beautiful weather, so much so that it has only rained at night. We are on to the dogwoods and wisteria stage. It is heaven.

  25. Debra- We're enjoting the same topsy-tervy weather here!

the daffodils are gorgeous. I love how they bloom in sync with the forsythia - bursts of cheerful yellow everywhere.

I'm waiting for my daffodils to bloom...

  26. Hello Debra,

I hope you are having a great weekend! I love your daffodils, ours here in VA are long gone. After my arrival back here from Milwaukee most of the trees were already flowering and then in a huge wind storm we had the blooms blew away.

We have gone from 88 to 50 to 82 to 49 it is crazy.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend, stay warm in your studio.
