Three feet and counting.....

The weathermen said there was a “potential” for three feet of snow but we didn’t think it would really happen. Not really all that unusual for New England so I’m not really sure what all the hoopla was about on the news. We kept hearing words like massive, historic, monster but really it’s pretty much normal for us at least once a year. So camera in hand I thought it would be fun to get a few pictures for those of you not use to living in this much snow. It started off innocently enough Friday morning with just barely a dusting, taken at seven in the morning.

By Friday night at 5:30 not much more snow had fallen since the morning and as you can see from the foot tracks we could still walk around easily.

But I guess for once the weathermen were right about the snow, seven in the morning on Saturday, 24 hours later and we woke up to a different landscape.

The husbands truck at 5:30 Friday night…..

The husbands truck at 7:00 Saturday morning. Have you noticed the snow on the front hood of his truck is higher then the actual roof of the truck?

Dylan watching Dad shovel from the porch this morning. We aren’t able to sweep the snow off the porch since the snow at ground level is higher then the front porch so it’s going to have to wait where it sits.

Thanks goodness our plow guy had been here but mister man still had to shovel out to the open plowed drive. Poor Dylan needed some private time and was barking asking Dad to shovel faster. See how much higher the snow is compared to Dylan’s back? Dylan is 29” tall.

The mounds of snow we have around here blocks everything from view for Dylan and he wasn’t thrilled…..

Until Dad brought out the snow scoop and was teasing Dylan, he likes dropping his jolly ball into the scoop and barking at it.

(Please people don’t email me about how chubby Dylan looks. Dylan weighs 82 pounds but has more hair then God. He get snow in the layers of hair from rolling around in it and it puffs up making him look enormous. Dylan is the perfect size!)

This is pretty much what it’s doing now outside and will be snowing like this until four this afternoon. So I’m staying inside by the wood stove and enjoying a book and a little leisure time while the men are outside playing in the snow.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday and if you live in the northeast be safe and have fun in the snow!

Thank you for the wonderful report of how the snow fell yesterday and last night

I heard on Al Roker's weather channel spot early this AM, the snowfall was falling in bands. How much snow depends on where you are. And since the forecast is made every 6 hours, there may be a difference between the weather report and what is actually on the ground.

Hi, Debra - My gosh! I hope you all have a generator.....better yet, not need to use it. We purchased one before winter. (Haven't used yet....fingers crossed.) Thanks for the update.
Take care,

Wow 3 feet! This storm has packed a lot of punch....it is beautiful and now the sun is shining so hope its on its way to you too. I cannot imagine how long its going to take to get all this melted though! Hope you enjoy it...Dylan looks so cute, Teddy seriously did not know what to make of it, he literally took two steps out the side door, did his business, while having a look of exasperation and said "this is for the cats" and waltzed back inside:)

You can tell all that hair Dylan has makes for great insulation! I love that he lounges around in the snow. So cute!

You sweet thing... that's incredible!!! What a monster storm, the weather men were right. It is beautiful and so fun to play in. When a big storm hits - we get out the rhino and pull the kids in the snow, we love it! I hope you're doing well and I wish you all the best Debra!

I wish I could enjoy the snow like dogs seem to enjoy snow. I have the same problem with the snow being higher than my porch.

A friend of mine just went for a ride around the neighborhood and downtown Boston and said it's a disaster. Major streets are only one lane wide. I've only seen one plow today. Not sure where they all are.

Hope you're safe and warm and with power.

Increadible, and Why is winger so long!? Where is the spring.... Sigh...xoxox z

feelin that. sort of buried in it too. have i mentioned we have two plows? yes. a pickup outfitted with a plow just for these occasional blizzards and a plow on our mowing tractor. i don't want plows. i want bikinis and sunscreen. who would have the time to judge your dog's weight? oy.

kiss that dylan on the lips for bella luna, she's a lonely broad.

smiles.

This is amazing Debra:) and look at Dylan.. he is thinking "come on people" and I totally get it. My girls love the snow. They always get really into the smells ~ which I totally don't get because you'd think there wouldn't be any! My 13 year old Ginger (she is loosing her hearing, has a torn ACL and needs a good dose of prozac because she is a worrier) just walks out and potties. She doesn't understand when it snows and looses her sense of direction.

That picture of your truck is great! I showed by husband:) and he laughed. That's a lot of shoveling! We don't ever get this much snow but we do get 12-15 inches every now and then, and growing up in southern CA, that's enough for us!

Enjoy your quiet time at home .. and Dylan is darling. Pop over to my blog.. I just posted the cutest picture of my girls. Ginger (the old one) loves our little Layla:)

Wow, Debra, that is impressive. At least you didn't lose power. Who are the awful people who would say anything bad about Dylan, anyway? You are right; he is perfect...and adorable.

I can't quite imagine what it must be like to deal with that much snow! It probably makes life pretty tricky, but it sure looks beautiful! x Sharon (Dylan is as gorgeous as always)

My Madigan looks exactly like Dylan. She too loves to roll in the snow and gets all fluffed up looking a bit bigger than her 60 lb svelte self.

Here in the upper midwest we are getting our second round of snow and will last into tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by my blog the other day! Always love hearing from you! I cannot imagine snow like that! Even though I lived in Denver for a while growing up I will admit that I am not very fond of snow! I love it for about a day! Glad you are getting to relax by the fire, though! Dylan looks beautiful! I can't imagine anyone thinking otherwise! Take care and be safe!

Debra,
I'm happy all of you are safe and sound. Here on the west coast they made the storm sound like the largest storm in history...exaggerate much, Mr. Weatherman? :-)

Hi Debra,
Love how you tracked the snow fall. We had just a bit less...and as I was walking Miss Molly today, was sad to see one of my front window boxes had fallen due to the heavy snow. I can't even get to it right now...just waiting for the Big Melt to begin and see what I'm working with. Things are still pretty and I'm happy as long as the roads are clear!!

Stay warm...looks like more on the way!

If Dylan was lost in the snow you can only imagine how lost little Cooper was. It was over his head. I couldn't even find the front steps to let him out! Thank you for your support and prayers, Debra! xo
