How is everyone doing these days? Me I’m dreaming of spring,
warmth and what type of apple trees we’ll be planting once we thaw out. While
we won’t be planting an orchard we will be planting a few varieties.
I also can’t wait to see some kind of color besides WHITE! I’m
so sick of seeing white and dark days.
Yes we can see the sun up there but it isn't sunny here but soon. Hard to see in this picture but it’s snowing…AGAIN! We’ve
received over five feet of snow just in February and I have to tell you I’m
done with old man winter for one year. While it’s good for our wells and I know
we’re fortune to be getting moisture when so much of the country has been going
through a drought I’m waving the white flag and crying uncle. Enough snow
already!
Poor Dylan dog has had enough too. This poor dog is feeling
so land locked not being able to run around his field and not being able to
hike in his forest. We’ve tried to help the little guy get around by snow
blowing paths for him but he wants green grass under his heels and to be able
to roam on his own.
He just walked over here and plunked down and started
licking the snow. Not sure if he’s trying to make it go away or make friends
since it seems to be staying around. We are lucky in the fact it has been melting off almost as fast as it has been coming down.
The snow does make very picturesque views
And thankfully the snowmobile club drags hundreds of miles making
walking easier.

Ok here we go again, I know you don't want to hear it but the snow pictures are sooo beautiful, especially the road and the open field...breathtaking! Something about rain and snow in the country...its just more beautiful there. Dylan looks so cute trying to make it up the snowbank, its frustrating for them! I am with you..happy to usher in spring and I want more than anything to see and smell bright green grass!!!! I CANNOT wait! Cant' believe 5 feet in Feb! That is crazy, here its just about all gone but its still very cold, and I know we are not out of the woods yet. Hang tight, spring is just a few weeks away:)
Your snow shots are really beautiful but the apple blossoms make me breath a deep sigh of relief. We've lost most of our snow and we're seeing daffodils, crocus and tulips peeking up through the dirt. I can't get too excited because it seems that March's promise of spring is usually broken.
Oh Debra, it is so beautiful though. I would love to take a little of it off of your hands.
And precious Dylan, he is just too precious.
I can't wait to see the apples you grow.

i'll take the snow since underneath it is all death and bare trees, but i'm ready for green too! just came from the conservatory where all the tropical blooms and foliage are thriving indoors. needed that.
dylan is such a doll. teach him about licking yellow snow though. :)

I got a shiver just looking at the beautiful pictures you shared...I also got a chuckle out of Dylan licking the snow. That is what our big dog (Winnie) would do!
We have to remind ourselves that it's still technically winter so it must be Mother Nature's prerogative to remind us it's her party and she can do what she wants. lol

Gorgeous snow pictures Debra!! I love that top photo.. spring is coming so hang in there! Although we don't have snow like this in my neck of the woods.. we do get lots of grey, dark days here in Seattle (I think lots of people living here get Seasonal Depression Disorder) I envision the sun being out.. it's just hiding behind the clouds. It's a strange visual but works for me.
Dylan is so cute:) I can tell he has a fun personality by your photos. Sometimes dogs do the funniest things and I know they always enjoy making us laugh:)

Amazing beauty over here Debra, and as sure as you are tired of snow, it's still a beautiful blanket of spring to rest your soulful eyes on.
I wish I lived where snow hangs around more then a day, we here in California get just a bit of snow now and then, just enough to view for a few hours before it melts, and then spring is upon us.

Loved this post!! Dylan dog is my hero! I love that he can make the best of every situation! I am not a snow person…I know I've said that before…but wow…everything looks extra beautiful when covered in all white! But I so know what you are feeling…if spring doesn't arrive soon I will melt…and not a pretty sight mind you…a muddled mess! Can't complain as it was almost 60 degrees here today…but getting cloudy again. Thanks for this post! I sure needed it!

I always amazes me, the climate extremes on different sides of the globe....here in South Africa at the moment and more spesific, western Cape, we are melting in the heat with such high temp, the way to survive is by staying out of the sun.... Airconditioned rooms, vehicles, and living on cold foods , salads, fruit and the pool being a daily must, some times twice per day.
I have never thought about how it must affect pets that are used to running on grass, gosh that is something!
I have also found the more extreme the heat here, the more extreme the cold at the same time on the other side....so perhaps some sun will come your way, it is blissfully overcast here today!! Xx Col

I think Dylan says it all. I do love all the seasons but must admit that I am looking forward to Spring time and new growth.
Now just thinking of all that lies ahead has me so excited to plant a garden and a trip to a nearby nursery to inspire me.

I can't even imagine what it must be like living with snow day after day. It always seems so romantic to me, but I guess the novelty wears off quite quickly when you have to get on with day to day life in 5ft of snow! Sending some warm weather your way - we have plenty to spare! x Sharon

I am SO with you! Just when I felt I had "made it through" winter, here comes one more storm. So far, it hasn't done much in my little corner, but I really am hoping this is it.
I NEED sun, flowers, bees, butterflies....all the beauties that Spring brings along.

OK yes I agree the snow is too much ... suffering here too...but the photo you took of the snow covering the trees where you talk about the snow plow...omg, I love it...looks magical...I would go for a walk or cross country ski there in an instant!

Debra...I have come to you by way of Heather at Lost in Arles...but I am sure I have stopped in before. I remember those gorgeous pillows of yours.
Loving your pictures of winter, they make me wonder. We bought a little farmhouse..in Peterborough. We live in Vietnam...it will be our home away from home. It stands empty..in the snow and as I last saw it in October, I wonder what it must look like in the midst of winter. Your photos filled me in and made me very excited for my first visit at the end of April...to begin setting up our home away from home. I fell in love with Peterborough as much as I did the house. So happy to see there is some sort of connection here. I will happily follow you and Dylan along..wondering how Tika and I would fit in amongst the New Hampshire woods.

I'm with you - the snow is beautiful but I am indeed ready for spring. We got over a foot this week, but as you said, it is melting fast - in fact almost all gone now. So nice to see the green poking through!!

Debra- Here in Albany a storm is coming and the kids are already geared up for another snow day! It always feels a bit strange to me when it snows in March - but I can't get over how gorgeous the white snow is when it falls and how it blankets the ground, so it's a "good" strange.
I love your photos! Those Dylan snow paths are so clever! He is so handsome as king of the snow hill!

i am trying to get the nest cleaned and fluffed in anticipation of graduation at the end of may so i am an indoorswoman anyway these days!

Oh the weather, I think everyone old gon on and on about that this year. I am back on the East coast after spending the last ten weeks in the Midwest. In fact today we are getting snow! We rarely ge snow here....
I hope you are well and didi not ge any more snow this week! Are you working on some interesting things?

My place is in Charlottesville Virginia. Five years ago I decided a small apple orchard would be just beautiful. Sixteen trees was the goal, some came from the local Liwes store and some came from a nursery in upstate New York. Not all of the trees survived in spite of mulching, watering and spraying. The second year I replaced the dead trees with similar varieties to the first year and figured 50% serval was pretty poor but was still better than 100% dead. The third year I replaced what didn't make it through and yes, in a couple of weeks I will be receiving 4 apple trees to replace the dead ones.
I contacted a local grower who said that is just the way it goes. Sometimes they die the first year sometimes the third year, you just never know. He said sometimes the root stock on grafted semi dwarfs are just not right for your particular conditions.
Bless your heart I wish you all the best. I'm not giving up, don't you give up either.
