Come on Baby Light my Fire......

Great news I had my physical last week and I’m in great shape and the doctor was thrilled I’m right on time with MENOPAUSE!

Ladies, ladies, ladies I’m here to say it isn’t as bad as you think. Ok everyone is different but I am thankfully suffering from one thing and one thing only…..HOT FLASHES!

I discovered something that was a tad unpleasant during the heat wave last week….heat brings on hot flashes! You would think Mother Nature would take pity on us and not try to evenly roast us inside and out! But life goes on and with busy lives we don’t have time to stand in front of fans all day.

Now I’m not trying to freak you guys out there but I found a little something that would work for men too on a hot day……personal necklace cooling fans! You hang this puppy around your neck and it blows cool air on you and I have to say it’s a very nice comfortable COOL air. No hands required so Mister man could wear one when riding around on the tractor to keep himself comfy and cool too. So I ordered us each one and nice price too around ten bucks.

So next time something is wearing you down, even men, take a look around on the Internet and I bet you find a helpful answer to your problem. If not you’re about to make a million by designing what you need. Try a personal fan I have mine hanging around my neck and I’m smiling!

I hope you’re all having a wonderful workweek!

  5. Hi Debra,
I am laughing with your humor again! That is the best approach to not so pleasant life experiences.... you are good at that I see.
Good luck with the heat and enjoy being in great shape!

  6. Mine come and go .. and I feel them most at night {night sweats, ha!} I wonder if there's a choking hazard if one attempts to wear it at night? ;)

I'm with ya friend and congrats on the physical. At this point in life I am always happy to hear positive news with regards to my health. Priorities change as we mature and a sense of humor is VERY important. Keep up your walks, deep breaths, and eat your breakfast:)

Loved this post Debra and I appreciate your being upfront and telling it like it is AND having a sense of humor!

  7. Hysterical and who cannot relate to this that is over 45? I am peri I believe and have had a few hot flashes that were about to send me literally INTO my freezer. It was crazy. I have no shame, I grabbed (and keep very handy) my sons portable little fan with water spritzer for those unexpected flashes..this does the trick! Whatever it takes......

  8. OMG Debra. I just had my physical last week and had the same discussion with my doctor. I was thinking today too that it seems like some women don't like to discuss menopause, so this is refreshing. My mother told me she didn't get hot flashes, so that is good news. I think mine are warm flashes--not too bad. My sleep patterns are off now though, so I'm trying to adjust. Thanks for the laugh!

  9. So funny! The only good thing about them, is that they don't last forever, though you think they will...

  11. Bonjour,
    Gros bisous

  12. My flashes were totally affected by my sugar intake, including wine. White wine as opposed to red had less of an effect on them.

  13. Debra,
Hilarious. Thankfully, I'm done with this lovely span of life's journey. What I want to know is why, oh why, can't they develop a pill for the hot flashes...that is the only ill effect of the whole process I experienced, and I don't even like summer weather! :D

  24. Debra,

Oh great, something to look forward to. I HATE to be too HOT or too COLD.

The joys of aging. I guess the good news is that you only have hot flashes.

I hope that you have a great week! I am looking forward to some of your blueberry recipes/ideas as you have a huge crop of them.

    Take care, xx Elizabeth

  25. I am laughing in my Tahilla Farm boots Debra...absolutely cracked me up! I can fully appreciate what I call the 'M' word. Saying that...I have been happier for the cooler weather of NH, even in the heat wave. Vietnam puts a whole new meaning on hot flashes.

Loving your side of the world...PB is just delightful. If you are around over the next few weeks, let me know, would love to meet over coffee. I am desperate for some decorating tips!

Happy Sunshine...from the other side of PB..

  30. Thank you for this post!
I too am experiencing hot flashes, especially those induced by hot weather! The fan sounds heavenly!
What has been worse though is the fatigue.
I started taking Estroven (not Estrogen) last week and it is really helping with both the hot flashes and fatigue.
Stay cool and positive my Virgo sister!

  31. Hello Debra!

Just checking in to see what you are up to! Are you surviving the wet summer weather or have you actually seen the sun?

I loved the new pillow that you posted on FB, beautiful!

    Have a great day!

  32. This made me laugh outloud. I've been over it, through, back into it, then menopause was gone for years, now the hot flashes are back! sorry, but they are like your worst enemy. Hope yours are too bad and short lived.
